Koobiie Mart
Business Management + Illustration
Timeline | Software | Role |
---|---|---|
May 2023 - Present | Procreate, Figma, Illustrator, and more | Business Owner + Illustrator |
Koobiie Mart is an Asian woman owned and designed art shop selling prints, stickers, charms, and more! The artwork romanticizes all things cute and colorful (with an emphasis on cats and fruit). As the owner, I take on multiple roles to bring my creative vision to life. From designing unique merchandise to managing social media, I ensure that my brand remains engaging and visually appealing. I curate content, interact with my audience, and market my products across different platforms and events.

Merchandise
The heart of the brand, naturally! I design and illustrate a variety of stickers, prints, pins, charms, and more. I get inspiration from all things and try to shed beauty on all parts of life, no matter how mundane.
Social Media
I grow my Instagram following by designing and posting graphics, including artwork, product reveals, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and more. I love interacting with my art community!
In-person Events
In addition to an online shop, I also sell artwork at in-person events! Here's a couple examples of my past table setups, though I'm always trying to improve it!
Sequential Art
A special spotlight at some of my shop's artwork - I also wrote, designed, and illustrated several comics and zines!
Takeaways
I've made hundreds of sales, sold at numerous markets, created dozens of designs... and I'm looking forward to growing Koobiie Mart even more! I've always loved creating art, and I'm so happy people other people enjoy it too. My next goal is to tackle wholesale! If you'd like to chat about this project, shoot me an email at [email protected]!

Mapt
Brand Design + Illustration + Animation
Timeline | Software | Role |
---|---|---|
Sept 2023 - Present | Figma, Adobe Suite, Rive, Lottie | Creative + Product Designer |
Mapt is a startup helping thousands of families turn college planning stress into success with accessible college planning and life skill building. As a founding creative, I had a hand in many parts of design including illustrations, branding, animations, and more.

Illustration System
As the sole illustrator on the team, I was charged with creating any and all illustrations for the app experience and beyond. I established an illustration system of colors, shape language, and characters, which I used to create quality visuals efficiently and consistently for course thumbnails and spot illustrations.

Animations
For extra delight! Made with Rive, After Effects, and/or LottieFiles.
Merchandise
I also designed and coordinated manufacturing of branded stickers and merchandise!
Takeaways
Working on a small startup team meant that I had to wear a lot of hats. By staying open and flexible to new things, I was able to work on a variety of projects that required many different skills. If you'd like to chat about this project, shoot me an email at [email protected]!

The Story of Chang'e
Book Illustration
Timeline | Software | Role |
---|---|---|
Fall 2022 | Procreate, Adobe Suite, Figma | Illustrator + Editor |
My identity as a first generation Chinese immigrant and artist has shaped every aspect of my life. I wanted to illustrate a story that lets me honor and share my roots with a younger audience.I chose to create a children's storybook version of Chang’e, which is a famous old Chinese folktale. It revolves around Chang’e, who became immortal through her love and now resides on the moon.

Research
I wanted the art to have an ethereal, flowing feel, while still retaining the content. I started by gathering reference material, thumbnailing, and planning the overall structure of the book.
Rough Draft
The next step was to create a rough draft of the entire book. I planned out the text and general composition of every page to make sure I knew how the content would flow and mesh. Then, I created a physical dummy to see how things looked and felt in real life.
Finishes
I brought the cover, a full page illustration, and a spot illustration to finish. It was important to keep the character designs and overall feel cohesive. You can view how they were evolved and refined below.

Takeaways
This project let me flex my illustration skills in a subject I was passionate in. It was also a lesson in long-form content, since I usually just do one off illustrations. It was important for me to keep the character designs cohesive throughout each page. Also, this was a lesson in the importance of planning. Instead of jumping straight into illustration, I took the time to plan every aspect of the story and compositions first, which saved dividends later on in the process. Planning ahead meant the entire process stayed smooth and straightforward. If you'd like to chat about this project, shoot me an email at [email protected]!

Reporter Magazine is a student-run publication at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Working in collaboration with writers, photographers, and editors, I would create illustrations to go alongside articles for both print and online.Reporter gave me the flexibility to branch out and experiment with my style, and each assignment was always a joy to work on. Knowing that my illustrations would be distributed to the student body of thousands was an honor and a pleasure.

Changeling
Character Design + Visual Development
Timeline | Software | Role |
---|---|---|
Summer 2021 | Adobe Suite | Concept Artist + 2D Illustrator |
Changeling is a VR mystery, first-person 3D platformer game made by Xana Adhoc Studios. It is built upon the idea of magical realism and a sense of unease and wonder. I worked with my art team, as well as development and writing teams to create assets including illustrations, character designs, web assets, and more.Because of Changeling's themes of magic and surreal concepts, it allowed me to experiment with settings and styles. I also learned about the character creation pipeline, starting with writing backstories to making a fully modelled character.

Memory Illustrations
I designed characters and illustrated their associated memories. These images would be shown to players to give them more insight to their backgrounds.
Character Designs
Many characters received visual overhauls during my time on the project, and I was in charge of reimagining them in a different style. I also created concept art and character sheets for several new characters.
Extras
I also created a few other assorted assets, such as web graphics, textures, and rough concept art.
Takeaways
It was wonderful getting to work with a talented team on a collaborative project. I was able to work with teams of writers, developers, artists, and more. I gained insight into the art to 3D pipeline, and how developers implement assets. If you'd like to chat about this project, shoot me an email at [email protected]!
